Blu Creative Recognized For Excellence in Packaging Design

Blu Creative Design & Marketing, in conjunction with Mann Packing Co. Inc., received top honors for their outstanding package design during the Produce Marketing Association’s Fresh Summit 2007.

Seven companies were recognized in five categories in the first annual Impact Awards for excellence in produce packaging. Mann Packing’s Ready Set Steam line of microwaveable items, which were designed by Blu Creative, shared the award for functionality and technology with Apio Inc. of Menlo Park, CA.

Mann Packing’s new ventures, such as the Ready Set Steam line, emphasize the company’s expansion into the value-added food market. Mann's advanced steam technology allows for individuals to steam vegetables in the included microwaveable tray in less than 3 minutes.

Vibrant and innovative packaging design combined with the advanced steam in bag technology made the Ready Set Steam line stand out amongst the more than 100 entries. The Impact Awards were introduced this year to recognize and encourage the industry’s best packaging innovators. Being considered amongst this elite group of packaging designers was a high honor for Blu Creative.

“Our goal was to really showcase the ease of the steam in bag technology, and design a package that fit with the overall feel of Mann Packing products. We wanted to create a package that makes people want to eat their veggies” said Lisa Tirado Davis, Blu co-principal.
